Made possible by the people who show up

Vibrant Health Advocates – Solace is made possible by the people who show up — to facilitate a session, to fund a course, to spread the word to a neighbour who might need us. The Borders has a long tradition of communities looking after their own, and everything we do is an expression of that tradition.

Whether you have three hours a month or three thousand pounds to give, there is a meaningful way for you to be part of this work. Below are the three main routes — we are genuinely glad to hear from anyone who is interested in any of them.

Three ways to help

Find your way in

Volunteer

We train community volunteers to co-facilitate our cooking sessions and support our outreach work across Peebles. You do not need a professional background in nutrition — you need warmth, reliability, and a willingness to stand beside someone at a cooker and encourage them.

Donate

Every pound we receive goes directly into delivering sessions: ingredients, venue hire, printed recipe packs, and the staff time that holds the programme together. A donation of £30 covers the full ingredient cost for one family's six-week Cook Well Borders course.

Partner With Us

We welcome partnerships with local businesses, schools, health practices, and other third-sector organisations who share our commitment to the health of Borders families. If you can offer funding, venue space, professional expertise, or a referral pathway, we would love to hear from you.

Why it matters

A neighbour helping a neighbour

Many of our best volunteer facilitators first came to us as participants. That journey — from the family who needed help to the neighbour who now helps others — is something we are profoundly proud of. It speaks to the kind of organisation we are trying to build: one that grows its own capacity from within the community it serves.

When you volunteer with us, you are not just filling a rota slot. You are part of a network of people who believe that Borders families deserve access to the same practical knowledge and support as anyone else — and you are helping to make that belief real, one Tuesday evening at a time.

If you work in healthcare, education, social services, or the third sector, a referral pathway partnership is one of the most direct ways to connect struggling families with support they genuinely need.
